Scheduling and mobile work orders for a UK field-service operator.

We put dispatchers on a single scheduling board and gave engineers offline-capable mobile work orders with Salesforce Field Service — lifting first-time-fix and on-time arrivals.

How we approached it

01 Challenge

Scheduling lived in spreadsheets and phone calls.

Scheduling was run across spreadsheets and phone calls, so no one had a single view of who was where. Engineers arrived on site without full job detail, patchy mobile signal in the field left them unable to load or update work, and the back office had no real-time picture of job status.

02 What we built

One board for dispatch, offline-ready mobile for the field.

We put scheduling on a single board and gave engineers a work-order app that keeps working when the signal doesn't.

  • Scheduling & dispatch board — skills-, territory-, and priority-based assignment from one view.
  • Structured work-order & asset model — every job carries the history and detail an engineer needs.
  • Offline-capable mobile — engineers load and complete work with no signal; it syncs on reconnect.
  • Automated customer notifications — appointment windows and status updates, without a phone call.
03 Outcome

Dispatch runs from one board; the field runs offline.

Dispatchers now schedule and re-shuffle the day from one board instead of chasing spreadsheets, engineers complete and update jobs on site even with no signal, and the business gained real-time visibility of field status — improving first-time-fix rates and on-time arrivals.

Solution highlights

Everything dispatch and the field need, in one system.

One scheduling board

Skills-, territory-, and priority-based assignment from a single dispatch view — no more spreadsheets or phone calls.

Work orders with full context

A structured work-order and asset model so every job carries the history and detail an engineer needs on site.

Works offline in the field

Engineers load, complete, and capture work with no signal; everything syncs the moment they reconnect.

Customers kept in the loop

Automated appointment windows and status updates go out without anyone picking up the phone.

In their words

The board used to live in three spreadsheets and my head. Now I re-shuffle the whole day in one place, and the engineers see it instantly — even with no signal.
